The Board of Trustees of Rocky Mount Preparatory School is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Chaunte Garrett to be its new Head of School, beginning with the new school year on July 1, 2019.
Formerly the Chief Academic Officer of the school, Dr. Garrett will replace Todd Pipkin, who has notified the Board of his resignation, effective June 30. The Board of Trustees is appreciative of Mr. Pipkin’s years of service as Head of School and wishes him well in his future endeavors.
Dr. Garrett, assumes the school’s top position after three years as Chief Academic Officer at Prep. Her experience ranges from classroom teacher, to Elementary School Principal, to many leadership positions in North Carolina schools, including Director of Accountability at Rowan-Salisbury Schools, Transformation leadership in Wake County Public Schools, highly successful teaching and mathematics academic coaching in Wake and Guilford County Schools, and numerous academic publications.
She is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, with a masters degree in Educational Administration from the University of Georgia, and doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from North Carolina State University.
The board looks forward to the strong leadership and experience Dr. Garrett will provide as Head of School.
